The first Britannia bullion coin was released in 1987 designed by sculptor Philip Nathan. Britannia is standing firm against a powerful gale which whips around her shield, Corinthian helmet and olive branch in this reverse design. The Type 2 release marks the first ever King Charles III effigy on the obverse.
